Aspidistra subrotata 'Mr. Jiew' is a plant we picked up at Mr. Jiew's Nursery in Thailand without a name. Upon flowering, it turned out to be a species native to Thailand, Vietnam, and neighboring China. Aspidistra subrotata forms a 20" tall x 3' wide bird nest-like evergreen patch of deep green leaves, sparsely spotted with large yellow dots, and adorned at the base in December with flowers that resemble bloodshot eyes...a great excuse to throw a celebratory party.
