Salvia texana is a North American native sage, ranging from North Central Texas south into Northern Mexico. It's similar to its cousin, Salvia engelmannii, forming a compact 18" tall x 18" wide clump of rosemary-like fuzzy green leaves and adorned from early May (NC) through mid-summer with an array of lavender-blue flowers. Salvia texana is an alkaline soil native, but has also thrived in slightly acidic soils as long as the drainage is excellent. It loves our gravelly crevice garden.
