More Information About Fatsia

Fatsia japonica features leaves in the shape of a giant hand...one with lots of extra fingers. Fatsia is a Asian genus that makes a great evergreen shade plant in the South or as a containerized house plant in colder climates. In addition to the large architectural evergreen leaves, fatsia produces fascinating globe-shaped clusters of white flowers in the fall and winter followed by small black fruits. In addition to the typical green form, there are also several variegated fatsia cultivars to choose from.

Fatsia prefers a woodland garden location and moist but well-drained soil. Fatsia can tolerate heavy soils and air pollution which makes it a good choice for urban shade gardens. Fatsia will grow into a 10' shrub with time so give it plenty of room. When you are ready to buy a fatsia for your home or garden, check out our list of fatsia for sale.
