(Iris tridentata CPC 25.5.02.7A) Iris tridentata is a little-known bog iris, native to just five Southeastern US states, from Tennessee south to Florida. Unlike the summer dormant Louisiana Iris, Savannah Iris continues to grow during the heat of summer, but goes semi to completely deciduous in winter. The rapidly branching rhizomes form thick patches, composed of thin green leaves, and topped, starting for us in late May (NC) with 2' tall stalks, bearing 3-petalled medium lavender flowers. While Iris tridentata will grow outside of a bog, it doesn't flower well when the soils stays dry for too long.
