Iris prismatica 'Rabun White' is a rare white-flowered selection of the virtually unknown native slender blue flag iris. This selection of Iris prismatica, which is native from Canada south to Georgia, was discovered by plantsman Jack Johnston near the southern end of its range in Rabun County, GA, (where it hasn't been documented) near the town of Clayton. In the garden, Iris prismatica 'Rabun White' makes a tight clump of 2' tall foliage, topped just above the leaves in mid-May through June (NC) with clusters of narrow-petalled white flowers. Although Iris prismatica is found natively growing in both fresh and salt marshes and bogs, we have found it equally well-suited to typical garden soil conditions.
