Nepeta 'Cat's Pajamas' is a true breakthrough in catmint breeding. This creation from the breeders at Walters Gardens forms a very dense, compact, symmetrical ball of tiny fragrant foliage, smothered, starting for us in mid-April, with stalks of small lavender flowers. In our trials, this selection stood out from all the other similar new introductions...a great way to attract cats, but not deer--a true showpiece in the garden that's best when used in mass.

Maintenance:

Catmints are very low maintenance perennials. At the end of the season, we like to cut the plant to the ground for aesthetics, but this certainly isn't required for the health of the plant.

Growing Conditions:

All nepeta plants prefer full sun and drier conditions, along with good drainage, which is very important. Smaller clones of catmint like 'Cat's Pajamas' must be placed carefully, so they will not be overrun by larger growing perennials.

Garden Value:

This amazing selection has a long bloom time in the summer garden. Because of their size, they can easily to fitted around other perennials, so that they will knit together and create a solid groundcover.

Natural Impact:

All catnips produce nectar that is preferred by a wide array of bees.
