(aka: Agave neomexicana) This exciting 2010 introduction is a creamy yellow-edged sport of the North American native (two counties in Southern New Mexico) Agave parryi ssp. neomexicana, discovered by High Country Gardens' founder, David Salman. Agave parryi ssp. neomexicana 'Sunspot' makes a 1' tall x 20" wide, tightly-offsetting specimen that thrives in full sun in well-drained, winter-dry soils. Agave parryi ssp. neomexicana is a xeric plant...it really dislikes water. Although the parent Agave parryi ssp. neomexicana is reliable in Zone 6, we are estimating the winter hardiness of Agave 'Sunspot' to be less until we know otherwise. Quantities are limited.
