The Chinese Arisaema candidissimum is one of the easiest-to-grow and most exquisitely beautiful of the jack-in-the-pulpits. Emerging in very late spring (May or June) are 15" tall stalks of pink pitchers dramatically striped with translucent, white vertical veins (candidissimum means "dazzling white"). Alongside the Arisaema candidissimum flower are two giant, three-lobed leaves, which can reach 2' in width. Arisaema candidissimum offsets slowly in a well-drained site. In the wild, this amazing aroid is found growing on sunny, rocky banks, so unlike our native jack-in-the-pulpits, this one likes it much drier and better drained.
