We are very pleased to offer Trillium 'Julia'...one of the most unique trilliums we've grown. Discovered by Julie Loftin near Nashville, Tennessee (Wilson County) in the early 1990s, Trillium 'Julia' is not a selection of Trillium cuneatum, but is instead, a still un-named new species, related to the also yet unnamed Trillium sp. nov. freemanii, which we discovered a couple of hours southeast. Trillium 'Julia' also has a rhizome that branches incredibly fast, producing an abundance of 8" tall stalks emerging from a dense clump. Each mature stalk is topped with a double stacked set of green and grey blotched leaves along with the typical light wine-purple, three-petalled flower in mid-April (NC). In rich woodland soil, a single plant of Trillium 'Julia' can develop into a dense 2' wide patch in 10 years...an amazing selection, but one which demand always exceeds supply...thanks to customer Jeana Prewitt for sharing. Our offerings are all flowering-sized divisions.
