Xanthocyparis vietnamensis is a distant cousin of the Western US Callitropsis nootkatensis with an identity crisis. Vietnam cedar is a monotypic (there's only one) genus, discovered in 1999, growing on the karst limestone mountains in the Hà Giang Province in northern Vietnam. Since there are less than 1000 plants in the wild, Xanthocyparis vietnamensis is one of the worlds' rarest and most endangered conifers, so we hope you'll be a part of the ex-situ conservation effort to preserve this.
