More Information About Narcissus

Early spring gardens in are not complete without Narcissus (daffodils). There are hundreds of hybrid narcissus cultivars on the market today, mostly in the trumpet daffodil, large cup daffodil, and small cup daffodil categories.

We have elected to offer some rarely seen species Narcissus (daffodil division 10, Bulbocodium hybrids) which have smaller petticoat-like flowers, finer grass-like foliage, and flower much earlier than the big hybrids. Our narcissus are perfect for rock gardens or troughs where their small stature really shines.

Narcissus prefer full sun and moist, well-drained soil but are otherwise forgiving about their growing conditions. When grown in a good site, narcissus will offset slowly to form a small clump of bulbs that can be periodically divided. Our species Narcissus are little gems that pair well with muscari, ipheion, scutellaria, vinca, setcreasea, or other small, spring blooming perennials. Like its big brothers, our species Narcissus are resistant to rabbits and deer.
