More Information About Meehania

Meehania is a small genus of just 7 species in the mint family (Lamiaceae). Of the seven, only one, Meehania cordata, is native to the US. Meehania is a great substitute for ajuga or lamium. It is small in stature and covered in purple scutellaria-like flowers in spring or summer.

Meehania spreads modestly via stolons to form a small patch in just a few years. Its petite size makes it perfect as a rock garden plant, between stone pavers, growing over a wall, or as the spiller feature in a mixed container. Most species prefer part to light shade and slightly moist but well-drained soil.
