Ligustrums (common name Privet) are a genus of deciduous or evergreen shrubs and small trees native to Europe, north Africa, and Asia. In Europe, Ligustrum shrubs were widely used for privacy hedges, while the tree forming species were planted along the streets. Ligustrums produce small heads of white flowers followed by black berries, that are a favorite of birds.
