Ipheion (aka Tristagma or Nothoscordum by some) is a South American genus of perennial wildflowers that produce a charming blue or white flower in spring at the same time as early daffodils. Like daffodils, ipheion plants go dormant for the summer and sprout anew the following winter. Ipheion is an allium relative, a relationship apparent when you crush the leaves and release an onion odor...a scent that repels deer and rabbits from the Ipheion in your garden.
