More Information About Hymenoxys

Hymenoxys is a genus of 25 species of aster relatives that are native throughout the Americas. Many Hymenoxys species grow in xeric conditions and consequently make excellent drought-tolerant perennial wildflowers. In the summer, hymenoxys produces coin-sized, yellow daisy-like flowers during spring and early summer on thin wiry stems that wave in the breeze and flag down passing butterflies. The low growing mound of hairy leaves makes Hymenoxys very heat and drought-tolerant.

Hymenoxys is easy to care for, requiring only well-drained soils. In the right location, Hymenoxys can re-seed and form a nice mat. Hymenoxys is great for that dry spot in your garden, mixed containers and rock gardens. Try combining hymenoxys with other xeric plants such as sedum and agave.
