More Information About Croomia

Croomia pauciflora is both a Georgia native plant and a Florida native plant which grows in the same conditions as trillium so you can use croomia along with trillium for a happy combination in a shady area.

The small genus Croomia (family Stemonacaea) contains only three species; C. japonica and C. heterosepala from southern Japan and eastern China, and one species native to the southeastern US, C. pauciflora. H. B. Croom (1797-1837), a wealthy landowner from North Carolina with a hobbyist's interest in botany, discovered the plant which was subsequently named for him.
