Amsonia grandiflora is another of those strangely little-known blue stars that should be more widely grown in home gardens. Amsonia grandiflora is a very rare native to the high mountainous dry oak woodlands of southern Arizona and adjacent Mexico where it can be found growing up to 4,500' elevation. The thread-like green leaves adorn the 2' tall deciduous stalks, topped in late April (NC) with pale lavender-blue buds that open to large, pure white flowers. We are pleased to offer plants grown from the late Howard Scott Gentry's seed collection.
