The difficult-to-find yellow coneflower is indeed a paradox as all other coneflowers are either purple or white. This strange relative from the Midwest (don't we all have one of those) has narrow, fuzzy green leaves that form a small basal clump which gives rise to 3' flower stems, topped in late spring with large yellow coneflowers with dark brown centers... great for mixing into the border for summer color.
