Trillium lancifolium 'Lancelot' is a 2014 Plant Delights introduction...a superbly unusual clone that we discovered near Chattahoochee in Gadsden County, Florida. In this population, the Trillium lancifolium grew solitary instead of in its typical clumping habit and also flowered yellow instead of red. We were fortunate to find one clone that bore yellow flowers and also clumped...clumped a lot...hence the name. Our offering is via rhizome divisions from our single division collection in 2006. Trillium lancifolium 'Lancelot' emerges in late February (NC) and flowers for an amazingly long time, often into late April. The silvery leaves with green flecking (more silver when planted in morning sun) are topped by small narrow petals that emerge reddish yellow and age to butterscotch. Thanks to legendary Panhandle naturalist Angus Gholsen for being our guide.
