More Information About Thelypteris

Thelypteris is a large genus of deciduous ferns that encompasses over 1,000 different species (Mickel 94). They are a very adaptable and easy-to-grow group of hardy garden ferns. We are pleased to present several species that have been star performers in our trials. Thelypteris is a deer-resistant fern genus whose member species range from 1' to 5' tall. Some are clumping ferns, while others spread into a nice-sized patch.

Thelypteris (Maiden Fern) Growing Conditions

They also make wonderful companion plants in the woodland garden pairing well with hosta, ophiopogon, carex, helleborus, and arisaema.
