Teucrium is a member of the mint family known for its summer flowers and small, attractive, silvery leaves. Most teucrium species are subshrubs with a woody base although the genus contains some herbaceous perennials. Their small size and neat habit makes teucrium perfect for low hedges, borders, container plants and knot gardens.

Species in the genus teucrium are well adapted to hot summer climates and tolerate poor soils. Many Teucrium species have fragrant leaves whose odor is apparent when the leaves are bruised. The leaves of some species of teucrium act like catnip and make felines dizzy with delight. The leaves are also quite bitter tasting which makes Teucrium a great plant in gardens where deer and rabbits graze. Bees, butterflies and hummingbirds like to visit the light purple/blue flowers. When you're ready to buy teucrium for your perennial garden, check out our online offering of teucrium for sale below.

(aka: Teucrium majoricum) I love this plant and, no, I don't say that about all the plants we grow! This wonderful hot weather, drought-tolerant groundcover hails from the alkaline, rocky regions around Majorca, Spain. Teucrium cossonii forms a tight 4" tall x 4' wide mass (3 years) of stems adorned with tiny grey leaves that have an herby fragrance. We held a Studio 54 reunion-like staff sniff-in, and were still unable to reach a consensus on the exact fragrance, but it ain't pineapple. The evergreen clumps are adorned with short spikes of purple flowers, nonstop from June until frost...an insect favorite. Pot Size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
You've never seen stupid pet tricks until you've seen a cat stoned on kitty crack. Teucrium marum is a delightful, compact, shrubby mint to 2' tall x 3' wide, covered in tiny, fragrant, green leaves and equally tiny reddish pink flowers from July through September. As soon as your cats find it, the plant is no more since they will roll in, over, and around it until they get so high they finally stagger off. Teucrium marum hails from the hot and dry regions of Spain...the source of many other good drugs. Grab the video camera and wait for the show. Warning...if your cats are unable to control their recreational use of Teucrium marum, we recommend a sturdy cage for your plants or an extended stay in kitty rehab. Pot Size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
