The southern Brazilian native Sinningia araneosa is another of the winter hardy gesneriads that's been a star in our garden since 2003. The 8" tall x 15" wide rosette of prominently veined, fuzzy, green leaves are attached to the 1' tall silvery fuzzy stems, which are topped with terminal clusters of bright orange, 2" long, tubular flowers from July through September in our garden...great for low-flying hummers. So, what are you waiting for? We know many of you have a secret fetish for hairy Brazilians. It is important to plant Sinningia araneosa where it will stay dry during cold, wet winters.
