From E.H. Wilson's 1910 collection from the steep rocky cliffs of the Min Valley of Sichuan, China, comes another truly great contribution to horticulture. The stellar-performing, heat-tolerant Lilium regale emerges in early spring with narrow, airy foliage adorning the sturdy 4' tall stalks. The stalks are quickly topped with clusters of lovely, pink-tinged flower buds. The buds of Lilium regale continue to expand for nearly a month before they open in early June (in NC). The clusters of large, white, outfacing, sweetly fragrant trumpets, backed in lavender, are simply marvelous...a favorite of yellow swallowtail butterflies! If you aren't even a lily fan, you can't help but love Lilium regale...voted by the RHS as one of the top plants of the last 200 years. We grow our plants from our own garden seed.
