Ligularia japonica 'Chinese Dragon' (Chinese Dragon Japanese Ligularia)
This splendid form of Ligularia japonica is from a 2005 seed collection by plantsman Hans Hansen in Sichuan, China. Ligularia japonica 'Chinese Dragon' has made an outstanding clump in our garden, composed of cutleaf bold leaves (less serrated than the Japanese form). Starting in mid-June (NC), the deciduous clumps are topped with 4' tall spikes of yellow-orange flowers that result in a midsummer butterfly orgy...binoculars not included. Moist soils produce the largest plants.
