More Information About Lantana

Lantana has long been sold as a staple of the annual flower bed and now more interest is being paid to the development of winter-hardy perennial lantanas...from Zone 7b south. We are offering several perennial lantana selections which, in tests around the country stand up to the industry standard while offering an array of new colors. Lantana has many flower colors to choose from including yellow, orange, pink, and bi-color.

Tips for Growing Lantana

In Zone 7b, it is critical to buy lantana and establish it in the garden before September so it develops a good root mass before cold weather arrives. The other key to success is to plant lantana in areas where the soil remains dry in winter....a wet, cold soil spells death for a lantana plant. We also do not cut back the old stems until spring arrives because leaving them intact improves winter hardiness.

Lantana shrubs like hot weather, full sun, are deer-resistant, have flowers that attract butterflies and hummingbirds, and can tolerate salt and drought once established. That's a lot of positives!
