Iris fulva 'Bayou Bandit' is a rare, odd colored variant discovered near Denham Spring, Louisiana, by iris collector Farron Campbell and introduced commercially in 1998. The 32" stalks are topped in very early May (NC) with a most unusual color of flowers...fleshy light chocolate suffused with lavender and adorned with a dark cinnamon eye zone. Iris fulva 'Bayou Bandit' was awarded the prestigious SIGNA (Species Iris Group) Award from the American Iris Society in 2007. Moist soils to shallow standing water will grow the largest clumps.
