We have grown Hippeastrum 'Wedding Dance' in the garden since 1993, and during that time, it has proven to be one of the most satisfactory garden plants we've ever grown, enduring our 1996 low of -1 degree F. The fast multiplying clumps produce huge bulbs, topped in early May (NC) with 20" tall stalks, each bearing several huge, pure white, out-facing flowers. As with all hippeastrums, dry soil during winter is the key to success. If you grow your Hippeastrum 'Wedding Dance' in a container, give it plenty of light, water, and fertilizer during the growing season, then allow the leaves die off in fall and withhold water, while storing your hippeastrum above freezing over winter. In early spring, when you see the buds pushing up, start to water and fertilize again.
