We are excited to once again offer the recently named and little known Croatian hellebore. Found in Slovenia (northeast of Croatia) in 1993 by Will McLewin (collection #12.1), Helleborus croaticus closely resembles Helleborus atrorubens except that the pedicels are hairy and the flowers resemble Helleborus torquatus. For us, the alkaline-loving Helleborus croaticus has thrived in our slightly acidic soil in a site that recieves full sun for several hours. Our clump has expanded to 10" tall x 18" wide, topped in late winter with very cute, small rounded flowers of purple flushed with green. This offering is divisions form our original plants from Will...a very limited offering.
