(Cyrtomium fortunei HH-03CH127) Cyrtomium fortunei 'Ping Wu' is a fascinating holly fern from a 2003 Hans Hansen collection at 4,800' elevation near Ping Wu, in China's horticulturally rich Sichuan Province. For us, Cyrtomium fortunei 'Ping Wu' forms a 30" tall x 30" wide, elegant, evergreen specimen. The foliage of Cyrtomium 'Ping Wu' is a much lighter glossy green, there is no contrasting dark mid-rib, and the pinnae are much wider than typical Cyrtomium fortunei. Any fern taxonomists out there in catalog-land that think this might be a new species?
