Baptisia sphaerocarpa Hunt Co. Texas (Yellow Redneck Lupine)

SunZone: 5-9, at least 30" tall Origin: USA

This has long been our favorite of the baptisia species, but it requires an expedition to TX to get pure seed. Thanks to TX native Jimmy Turner for saving us the trip. This collection from Hunt County, TX, has rounded blue-green leaves adorning 30" tall x 36" wide clumps. In mid to late April, the clumps are topped with stupendous 12" tall spires of pure yellow flowers, followed in late summer by curious spherical tan seedpods. You will love this heat- and drought-tolerant US native in your perennial border! Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
