Amorphophallus bulbifer (Voodoo Lily)

Amorphophallus bulbifer (Voodoo Lily)
Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 7b-9a 36" tall Origin: Burma, India

Web-Only! This unique voodoo lily has proven to be extremely reliable in our trials. The 3-4' tall, thick, fleshy, heavily-mottled stalks that emerge in June give rise to a large hand-like leaf atop the stalk. By the end of summer, each leaf forms cute brown warts that can be removed and planted to make additional plants. In late June (once the bulbs are large enough), 18" tall flower stalks emerge that appear to be a ceramic pink shell-like sculpture with a deep red center and a unique fragrance...they don't look real! After the plants flower, the bulbs will often rest for an entire year before producing another leaf stalk. In colder climates, planting the bulb deeper tends to extend the range north a bit. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
