Ipheion uniflorum 'Charlotte Bishop' (Charlotte Bishop Starflower)

Sun to Light ShadeZone: 6b-8, at least 6" tall Origin: Argentina, S. America

Web-Only! (syn: Tristagma uniflorum) This amazing new selection of the South American starflower first appeared as a chance seedling from Ipheion 'Wisley Blue' in the UK garden of John Clark. For us, I. 'Charlotte Bishop' makes a delightful 1' wide clump of short glaucous foliage that is topped, starting in March and early April, with 1" mauvy-pink, star-shaped flowers held just above the foliage. The foliage will persist until hot weather arrives, when it seeks cooler quarters underground. The foliage re-emerges from dormancy in late-September. Seedlings will not retain the same color as the parent, so remember to deadhead. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
