Although it was discovered in 1891, Lilium rosthornii had not been seen since 1938 and was thought to be extinct until recently, when it re-appeared with some wild collected lilies shipped from China. The plant resembles L. henryi, but each of the shorter 3' tall stalks contains three to five pendent golden-orange flowers. L. rosthornii has proven to be very easy to grow and is a perfect size for most gardens. Our offerings are seed grown plants from the gardens at PDN.
