Borinda angustissima (Narrow Leaf Clumping Bamboo)

Part Sun to ShadeZone: 8-9, at least 180" tall Origin: China

Web-Only! Borinda angustissima was accessioned by Dr. Jim Waddick in 1993 in China's Northern Sichuan Province near Huang Long Si. The scant references on this species refer to a dislike of heat and humidity, but our trial plants survived weeks of 100 degree F temperatures without a blink. We've only had a winter low temperature of 15 degrees F, so we can't adequately comment on cold hardiness below those temperatures yet. B. angustissima has very narrow green leaves on 1" canes that emerge with an attractive, dark purple sheath. We anticipate the clumps will reach 15'+ in height and 4' in width as the clumps mature. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
