(aka: A. m. coll. #AGA-533) Amorphophallus muelleri hails from Northern Thailand and adjacent countries where it is quite widespread. In foliage, it resembles A. bulbifer with the 3'+ tall green petiole, speckled with white. The new leaves emerge with a nice red border. The 2' tall flower spike, which appears before the leaf emerges, is topped with a cup-like spathe similar to A. bulbifer, but with attractive white blotches on the spathe...reminds me of the bed pans in our last Chinese hotel. The central spadix resembles a phallic-shaped scoop of vanilla ice cream. A. muelleri is one of the few species that produces seed without meaningful sex, so you'll always have plenty to share...seed. Our offerings are from an Alan Galloway accession. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
