Kniphofia sarmentosa hails from mountain streams in South Africa's winter rainfall Karroo region. It quickly became one of our favorite pokers...after 5-card draw, of course. The thin, blue-grey foliage makes a narrow clump to 2' tall. In early spring (March-April) in NC, the clumps are topped with narrow 4' tall spikes of coral-orange. From Zone 8 south, they often flower throughout the winter months. K. sarmentosa is slightly stoloniferous (runs underground), especially in moist soils, so there will be plenty to share. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
