Belamcanda chinensis Yunnan Form (Blackberry Lily)

SunZone: 5-9 50" tall Origin: China

Web-Only! With everyone breeding short plants, it's always great to have some tall forms around. We are indebted to plant explorer Paul Jones of Duke Gardens for sharing this exceptional tall form of the wonderful blackberry lily (coll # PJ574-98). Paul's 1998 collection from 2800' in elevation was made near the town of Lidiping in Yunnan, China. In mid-June, the winter deciduous, iris-like rosettes produce 4'+ tall spikes, topped with clusters of 2" tigridia-like flowers...orange (RHS 23A) highlighted with small red flecks and three small white marks at the base of the flower. After flowering, the fruit capsules split open to look like clusters of blackberries. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
