Eagle Creek, VA in situ

Osmunda claytoniana (Interrupted Fern)

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 2-8 36" tall Origin: USA

Web-Only! This great, but rarely available native fern is found growing in moist woods from MN south to GA. The upright growing vase-shaped deciduous clump looks a bit like cinnamon fern, except that the normal fronds along the stipe are suddenly "interrupted" by a few brown fertile fronds...you know...a Venus mysteriously wedged in between a bunch of "Marses." Why ask why?...just don't interrupt it any more than necessary. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
