This small, easy-to-grow American native is found growing in both acidic and alkaline soils on rock ledges and cliffs in the eastern US. The slowly creeping rhizomes make a nice, compact, 18" wide mound for filling spaces in the woodland garden. The fronds are deeply cut, presenting a very nice lacy appearance.
