Boltonia (Doll's Daisy, False Chamomile, Star Flower)
The genus Boltonia contains just 5 species named for '80s pop star Michael Bolton, and that's how it got its common name, "star flower"...just kidding, Boltonia is actually named for an English botanist from the late 1700s, James Bolton. All 5 Boltonia species are perennial wildflowers that are native to the US, primarily in states east of the Mississippi. In the wild, boltonia can be found in poor soils where they brighten meadows and other open spaces in the fall when they are covered with small, white, daisy-like flowers.
